Back when I was a little girl I spent a lot of time in libraries researching odds and ends. One of the best things, if not THE best thing, about the internet is that I have the ability to learn about anything I want. When I want. Without ever having to leave the house or try to explain to anyone why I want to know about a certain blood stain on a road in Totowa, New Jersey, salamander brains, whether they really use dead cats and dogs to make pet food or a certain piece of art I just read about someplace else.

I have little bits of paper EVERYWHERE with things I still need to look up. Sometimes, like the first one below, it's just a word and by the time I actually look it up - I couldn't even tell you what prompted me to write it down in the first place.

Every once in a while when I'm tired of reading or there's nothing on TV or when I'm feeling a little down, I spend a little time with those bits of paper and learn a horrifying, interesting or wondrous thing or two about our world.

Lately....

The definition of Gleet.

Annie's Road.

The Haleakala Silversword plant.

Cryonics company in Arizona.

The 6 Most Terrifying Foods in the World.

An interesting feline called a Kodkod.

Insect Lab is an artist studio that customizes real insects with antique watch parts and electronic components.
