Words

A deadline is negative inspiration. Still, it's better than no inspiration at all.

~Rita Mae Brown
Trust only movement. Life happens at the level of events, not of words. Trust movement.

Some Behaviours Never Change, Only Evolve.

Back when I was a little girl I spent a lot of time in libraries researching odds and ends. One of the best things, if not THE best thing, about the internet is that I have the ability to learn about anything I want. When I want. Without ever having to leave the house or try to explain to anyone why I want to know about a certain blood stain on a road in Totowa, New Jersey, salamander brains, whether they really use dead cats and dogs to make pet food or a certain piece of art I just read about someplace else.

I have little bits of paper EVERYWHERE with things I still need to look up. Sometimes, like the first one below, it's just a word and by the time I actually look it up - I couldn't even tell you what prompted me to write it down in the first place.

Every once in a while when I'm tired of reading or there's nothing on TV or when I'm feeling a little down, I spend a little time with those bits of paper and learn a horrifying, interesting or wondrous thing or two about our world.

Lately....

The definition of Gleet.

Annie's Road.

The Haleakala Silversword plant.

Cryonics company in Arizona.

The 6 Most Terrifying Foods in the World.

I May - Part I

I may believe that somewhere far away in a hotel bathroom it would be the work of but a moment to cleanse my skin as one by one I drowned all the people I had been.

I may yearn for a wilderness far from here where I could listen to the blackbirds settling down into the trees like a sudden dark rain to wash away these wasted years.

When Is A Post Not Really A Post?

I'm currently in the middle of a screaming migraine.

And the light from the computer really hurts.

So. Here's today's post. I'm going back into the dark.

These Days: You Lead, I Follow

Thinking that Jen's post was a fantastic idea..... I've done it myself.

What Your Handwriting Says About You

You are a fairly energetic person. You know how do pace yourself, and you deal well with stress.

You are somewhat outgoing, but you're not a natural extrovert. You think first before you act. You tend to be independent, rational, and logical.

You are extravagant, over the top, and indulgent. You set trends and influence people.

You need a bit of space in your life, but you're not a recluse. You expect people to give you a small amount of privacy, and you respect their privacy as well.

You are somewhat traditional, but you are also open to change. You listen to your head and your heart.

You are a decent communicator. You eventually get your point across, but sometimes you leave things a bit ambiguous.

Truth Smells a Bit Like Fear

It occurs to me occasionally how remarkably little binds me to my current life.

I have a job, sure, but it's casual - I don't even have to give notice to leave. An apartment full of stuff I'd probably never miss. I have Cabot and the Magpie, but no husband, child, no onerous financial obligations that can't take care of themselves.

If I consciously remove the final sentiment of love I may discover how dangerously fragile my ties to the familiar world are.
